Frequently Asked Questions
We want everyone to feel ready to join regardless of their experience level. These answers cover the most common questions we hear from new and returning members alike. If your question isn’t listed, our Discord is always open.

Our founder Hamish runs highly produced one-shots, the kind that take real time to prepare, aimed at creating an unforgettable experience. In between those, volunteer DMs run more casual "contributing DM" games. We also host social events outside of gaming to help people get to know each other. A lot of friendships start here, and we take pride in that.
-
Mostly drop-in. Hamish's flagship sessions are designed as self-contained one-shots, so you can show up for a single night with no prior commitment. Some contributing DM games may run across multiple sessions, and we do have a couple of ongoing unofficial campaigns, but that's always communicated upfront so you know what you're signing up for.
-
Absolutely. We're a welcoming community for everyone. It's reflected in our Code of Conduct and in the people who show up. All identities and backgrounds are welcome at our table.
-
Absolutely not. We do not require you to pay to join our party, nor do we lock any activities behind a paywall. There are other ways to contribute, though, like volunteering as a DM or event organizer.
-
Not at all. We welcome both new and experienced players and like having a mix at the table. Just show up and have fun.
-
Nope, just yourself. Dice, character sheets, and any other materials you need will be handled for you. If you have your own supplies and want to bring them, go for it, but it's never a requirement.
-
Roleplay is encouraged but never required. No one's judging your acting skills. Engage as much or as little as feels comfortable. The table will meet you where you are.
-
It depends on what the DM wants to run. We play a wide range and are always willing to help anyone learn. Here are some of what you might encounter:
D&D 5e
OSE
Call of Cthulhu
And more

We rotate venues around the Raleigh-Durham area, so the location varies by event. Sometimes, we also host events virtually on our Discord Server. The best way to find out is either through Discord or by finding the event you’re interested in on our Events page.
